Hobson's Choice

Salford 1880. Cantankerous and obstinate Henry Hobson runs a successful bootmaker's shop. A widower with good intentions and a fondness for the Moonraker's Inn, he tries to get the better of his three bumptious daughters. When he decrees 'no marriages', eldest daughter Maggie rebels and sets her sights on her father's master bootmaker – the exceedingly shy, Will Mossop.

Henry Hobson is brought magnificently to life by John Savident; one of this country's most versatile and popular actors. His credits include ‘Saint Joan’ and ‘Coriolanus’ (NT) and ‘A Clockwork Orange’. He is widely known as Coronation Street's Fred Elliot.

One of the great classic English comedies; Hobson's Choice is a hugely funny, touching and compelling drama, as radical and relevant as ever.
